The company has been out of business for decades, but the boats live on!
It seemed like a good idea to gather some information about the company, and more importantly, the boats we own, in one place.
It is hoped that this can be a resource for Prairie (and Atlantic) boat owners and maybe a way to connect with other owners.
As a new owner of a Prairie 36 I’m looking forward to exploring the site.
I’m a happy to find this website with some information about my prairie 29 Coastal Cruiser hull #34

We have inherited a Prairie 46, Hull #5.
In the process of refurbishing her in Louisiana.
Repowered with Yanmar 240hp engines 20 years ago by previous owner.
Hello…my wife and I have been bringing back to life hull #5 … 29′ Prairie.
It has been lots of fun…took it to Florence Alabama for the winter…and really enjoyed it.
Just bought (not installed yet) a NextGen 3.5 diesel genset. Got it from the manufacturer in
Jacksonville Fl. It was repowered in 2007 with a 52 Yanmar and we loved getting an average of 6.5 mpg! Has a new Lewmar bowthruster…new bridge bimini and cockpit bimini.
Boat is laid out very comfortably.
The vessel we own was previously known on Youtube as the Mischief … tons of great videos by the previous owners. She sat in a boatyard in Maryland for several years neglected. We saw her…bought her…and looking forward to lots of cruising. We also have a 1972 36 Gulfstar with a 120hp Lehman which will soon be on the market. Yes we love older trawlers…tons of character in them.
Great to see some other Prairie lovers!
