1981 Prairie 36 Coastal Cruiser
With the success of the Prairie 29, in 1979 the company introduced the Prairie 36 Coastal Cruiser. While the general hull shape and look of the 29 were retained, the additional size allowed two berths (sleeping cabins), each with it’s own head. The heads each had a separate shower, with the master (aft) head including a bathtub, rare in boats this size.
This model was 36’7″ (11.15 m) long with a beam of 13’9″ (3.96 m) but a relatively shallow draft of only 3’3″ (just under 1 m.) Her weight was 22,000 lbs (just under 10,000 kg.) With the mast up she had an air draft of 19’9″ (5.79 m.)
Interior headroom was up to 6’5″ (1.95 m.) She had tankage for 250 gallons of fuel (later models, 360 gallons) and 200-225 gallons of water.

There were a number of different layouts over the years. One sought-after change was a full-size, centerline bed in the aft stateroom. Some were produced with a “galley-down” configuration, and the foreward stateroom was available with a 2-berth “bunk” arrangement instead of the “V” shown above.
